serve alongside us
Volunteer

Volunteers play an integral role as they use their interests, talents, and spiritual gifts to serve and support the mission of The Next Door.
Participating in the transformational journey of a women recovery is a beautiful blessing and we are thankful to have engaged community members who are eager to walk alongside our mission!

NASHVILLE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
Our volunteers have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings in our agency, and will be placed into volunteer service according to their talents, qualifications, and interest.
Welcome Notes
Write encouraging notes for admitting clients starting treatment. Receiving a handwritten note lets our clients know there are people outside of our staff who are rooting for them. This activity can be done at home, with children or in small groups.
Serve Meals
Assist the Food Service staff with the preparation of food, serving meals to clients, and cleaning the dining area. This opportunity also allows you to connect one-on-one with clients and share a meal together. We have the opportunity for volunteers to help with lunch (11:30) and dinner (4:30) every day of the week.
Clothing Closet
Organize clothing donations to clearly show the Client Assistant staff what items are clean, lightly used, and comfortable for clients to wear. Volunteers should also keep the Volunteer Coordinator updated on inventory needs to ensure we are meeting the needs of all clients.
Activity Volunteer
Engage with clients during a break in their daily programming to lead an optional activity they can participate in. Suggested activities could include creative writing, exercise activities, board games, self-care, arts and crafts projects, or another activity volunteers are passionate about.
Client Hospitality
Support new clients during the admission process and assist our Admissions team. Volunteers aim to provide emotional support to clients by creating a comfortable environment in the Admissions Clinic. They may help clients with paperwork, get them any refreshments and most importantly help them feel comfortable about the start of their recovery journey.
Prayer Volunteer
The Next Door was founded by a group of Wild Praying Women, and we still consider prayer a central aspect of our mission. We understand that prayer looks different for every volunteer, so this opportunity is very open-ended. It could include individual prayer with clients, taking a prayer walk around our building, or leading a guided prayer for clients.
TND Street Team
As a representative of The Next Door, this volunteer role introduces TND’s mission to new people and advertise our services in new locations. Street Team volunteers place TND information packets in various doctors’ offices, hospitals, churches, and other community locations where potential clients may access them and be referred to our services.

Mentors can be spiritual in nature, or purely provide guidance to a woman who needs help transitioning into the community.
