The Next Door Chattanooga has a long history of hosting internships. As a TND intern at our Chattanooga location, you will be working with women who are currently incarcerated through Tennessee Department of Correction within our Correctional Release Center (CRC). Interns at the CRC have the unique opportunity to interact with this population within a therapeutic facility rather than inside a prison setting.
We have two types of internships offered at the Chattanooga location:
- Criminal Justice – Undergraduate or Graduate level students with a focus in Criminal Justice may apply for the internship. Criminal justice interns will get hands-on experience working with the female incarcerated population. Interns are given the opportunity to observe case management services and be involved in the everyday functioning of the Correctional Release Center.
- Clinical – Graduate students in a clinical counseling, social work, or other clinical fields of study may apply for a clinical internship. Clinical interns at TND Chattanooga are given the opportunity to observe established clinicians and progress toward working independently with groups and individuals.
How Do I Apply?
If you are interested in interning or completing your practicum with us, you’ll need to fill out and submit our Intern Application along with a copy of your resume. Your application should be sure to indicate the dates you were hoping to start and end your time with us, and your school supervisor/university contact. Once your application and resume are received, they will be reviewed and next steps determined. If both parties feel this would be a good fit, we’ll move forward with the on-boarding procedure which includes a drug screen, background check, and TB skin test.
Our Chattanooga location does not have deadlines for internship applications; however, internship spots fill up quickly. Our Intern Application can be downloaded below. When you are ready to apply, please submit the Application to the email listed at the end of the form.
